The burial site of the late former President Roh Tae-woo has been decided as Donghwa Gyeongmo Park in the Unification Garden district in Paju, Gyeonggi Province.

Lawyer Roh Jae-heon, son of former President Roh, said on the 29th, “A month and four days have passed since my father passed away.

He continued, “I listened to the advice of many people to choose a path that obeys the rules without burdening the country and society like a normal father while upholding the desire for inter-Korean peace and reunification. I want to take them to Donghwa Gyeongmo Park, located in Dongsan.”

He added, “The burial date will be decided as soon as it is ready.” He added, “I believe that the deceased, who pretended to be an ordinary person here, will pray for the day when the divided North and South will become one and reconcile together with the displaced people.”

He said, “I would like to thank Paju City, civic groups, and citizens for their advice and cooperation. I would like to once again thank the government and the funeral committee for observing the national funeral.”

Donghwa Gyeongmo Park is a cemetery and ossuary facility built to appease the sorrows of North Koreans.

Previously, the bereaved family had hoped for the Paju Unification Garden as a burial site to express the will of the deceased for peaceful reunification of the two Koreas during his lifetime. However, Paju city was unable to determine the burial site because of the policy that a burial facility could not be built in the Tongil Hill, a special tourist zone. The Korea Forest Service was also reluctant to sell the national forest, so the final burial site was undecided.

Previously, Roh So-young, director of the Art Center Nabi, the eldest daughter of former President Roh, announced the day before, “Now it seems that I have found a place to take care of my father. My brother will announce it tomorrow.”

He continued, “It’s good that I don’t have anything to organize my estate. I have only one house in Yeonhui-dong, but I gave it to my brother.” He said, “I picked up a blanket instead. The blanket that you covered until the end.”

Director Noh said, “I’ve been lying in bed for almost 16 years, but I think I’ve seen this teddy bear blanket for more than 5 years. “He said.

Former President Roh passed away on the 26th of last month at Seoul National University Hospital in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
