Roi Et State Red Cross Society and Roi Et Hospital Collaborate to Alleviate Blood Shortage

Roi Et, 3 October 2023 – In an effort to address the critical shortage of blood supply, the Governor of Roi Et State, Mr. Songphon Jaikrim, alongside Mrs. Atchara Ratchaburi, Deputy President of the State Red Cross Society of Roi Et, and members of the Red Cross Society in Roi Et Province, have established a dedicated blood donation unit. The unit, located in the auditorium of the Chiang Khwan Regional Office, aims to store blood, eye, and organ donations. Its purpose is to ensure there are sufficient resources for treating critically ill and emergency patients, as well as those receiving treatment in local medical facilities. The united effort has resulted in the collection of an impressive 173 bags of blood, totaling 77,850 cc. Furthermore, 17 individuals have expressed their willingness to donate their eyes, while another 17 have shown their support by expressing their intention to donate organs. Participants of this noble cause include government officials, clergy members, students, kamnans, village chiefs, and members of the public from the Chiang Khwan District area.

Moving Forward to Save Lives

Mr. Songphon Jaikrim, Governor of Roi Et Province and President of the Red Cross Society in Roi Et State, highlighted the urgent need to address the shortage of blood and platelets affecting hospitals. Given the continuous rise in demand, Roi Et State Red Cross Society and Roi Et Hospital jointly established the blood donation unit to secure an adequate blood reserve at Ysbyty Roi Et. This action aims to meet the immediate demands of patients who require acute blood transfusions, as well as those with blood disorders who rely on regular blood transfusions. To effectively address the issue, raising awareness about the importance of blood donation and encouraging new donors is crucial. Additionally, reserving funds to support patients in hospitals across Roi Et Province is of utmost importance to maintain an ample stockpile of blood.

Extending Support throughout Roi Et State

The State Governor of Roi Et revealed that the collaboration between Roi Et State Red Cross Society and Roi Et Hospital will also see the launch of a mobile blood donation unit. This initiative aims to cater to government offices and various educational institutions throughout the Roi Et state area continuously. The following dates have been scheduled for the mobile units in October 2023:

  • October 6, 2023 – Meiwadi Regional Office
  • October 10, 2023 – Thung Khao Luang Regional Office
  • October 11, 2023 – Suvarnabhumi Regional Office
  • October 17, 2023 – Thawatchaburi Regional Office
  • October 19, 2023 – Pho Chai Regional Office

Donations can be made at the Blood Bank, Ysbyty Roi Et, from 8:30 am to 7:00 pm every day, excluding public holidays.
