Thiruvananthapuram: Workers blocked an ISRO heavy truck demanding maintenance. The vehicle reached the Vikram Sarabhai Space Center in Thiruvananthapuram and was stopped. Police then reached the spot and arranged for the vehicle to pass. Clashes broke out between police and locals in the area.
The VSSC said it had demanded a bribe of Rs 10 lakh. The VSSC said it had demanded Rs 2,000 per tonne. The day before, the High Court had taken a strong stand against Nokukuli.
The state government had made it clear that it would strongly oppose the nokukuli. This was followed by an incident where a vehicle coming to VSSC was stopped due to maintenance.
