KYIV (Kyiv) (Reuters) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video speech late on Thursday that the situation on the front line was difficult as Russian forces tried to advance in the eastern Donbass region and Kharkov province.

“Despite heavy losses, the Russian army is advancing in the Donetsk region, establishing a stronghold in the Lugansk region, trying to advance in the Kharkov region, and planning something in the south.” He noted.

The Donbass region, which includes Lugansk and Donetsk regions, has been the scene of heavy fighting between Russian and Ukrainian forces for months.
