Russia kills 11 in drone strikes in Ukraine US Treasury Department sanctions Wagner Group

Yesterday (26th) Russia launched missile and drone strikes on Ukraine, killing at least 11 people and destroying dozens of buildings.

Ukrainian authorities announced today (27th) that 11 people were injured in addition to the dead in the Russian attack on 11 areas that day.

Ukraine’s military said it intercepted 47 of 59 missiles fired by Russia and shot down 17 Iranian Shahed-136 drones.

The Ukrainian army command said that Ukrainian forces repelled Russian attacks in several locations over a 24-hour period, hitting Russian command and control centers, one barracks, two artillery posts and an ammunition depot.

In the midst of this, another powerful explosion occurred near the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine, an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) monitor sent to the site reported to Secretary General Rafael Grossi.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video address yesterday (26th) that “recovery teams are working at the site.”

Meanwhile, the US Treasury Department designated Russian private mercenary company Wagner Group as a transnational criminal organization yesterday (26th) and strengthened sanctions.

The Treasury Department took action today to freeze the assets of dozens of individuals and entities in the United States in an effort to undermine Russia’s war capabilities.
