Moscow: Parliamentary elections in Russia are over. Voting began on Friday and ended on Sunday. The ruling United Russia party has the upper hand in the by-elections.
Putin’s party dominates the Duma, the lower house of the 450 – seat parliament. There are 14 parties in the fray.
Putin needs a majority in parliament to run in the 2024 presidential election.
