WASHINGTON: President Joe Biden is sending a senior adviser to India in the wake of US efforts to persuade India to take a stand against Russia on the Ukraine issue. India has been taking an independent stand against US interests on the issue of Ukraine’s occupation.
Dalip Singh, an Indian – born international economic adviser who led the US crackdown on Russia, will arrive in India today. The White House has confirmed that Dileep will be in New Delhi today and tomorrow (30, 31).
The Biden administration has decided to extradite Dilip to Russia, as Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is due to arrive in India today or tomorrow. Lavrov arrives in India after a visit to China.
Dilip will discuss with Indian representatives the consequences of Russia’s occupation of Ukraine adversely affecting the global economy, White House Security Council spokeswoman Emily Horn said. The priorities of the Biden administration and the development of the Indo-Pacific economic framework will also be discussed.
Dileep, 46, is also the grandson of Dalip Singh Sound, the first Asian American to be elected to the US Congress. During the Obama administration, he was Deputy Assistant to the Treasury for International Affairs. Dileep is considered to be the mastermind behind the US sanctions on Russia. The U.S. embargo has adversely affected the Russian economy.
