[25日 ロイター] – A Belarusian defense ministry official said on Thursday that the “Iskander” tactical missile system and the “S400” surface-to-air missile supplied by Russia are ready to be used for their intended purposes.

Belarusian soldiers are “fully trained” in joint training camps with Russia, Leonid Kaszynski, head of the ministry’s ideology department, said in a video posted on the Telegram app.

Iskander and the S400 are already “fully ready to carry out their missions for their intended purpose,” he said of the deployment.

The Iskander-M, which Russia has deployed in Belarus, is a mobile guided missile system, which is a successor to the former Soviet Union’s Scud. It has a range of up to 500 kilometers and can carry conventional or nuclear warheads. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced in June that he would supply Iskander and S-400 fighter jets to Belarus, but it is not clear how many have been used.

Kaszynski also said the country’s military planes have been modified to carry “special aircraft ammunition.”
