Russia’s energy exports doubled after the invasion of Ukraine | Morning & World

[앵커]

After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, European countries have cut Russian energy imports, but Russia’s exports have nearly doubled. The UN secretary-general, who visited Ukraine, acknowledged the failure of the Security Council. Let’s start morning & world. Reporter Ahn Eui-geun, who is in charge of in-depth coverage of international diplomacy and security, has arrived.

If Russia’s exports increased, wouldn’t the Western countries’ sanctions have little effect?

[기자]

Considering the situation so far, yes.

According to an article delivered by the British Guardian citing the analysis results of the Energy Clean Air Research Center.

In the two months after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Russia’s sales of fossil fuels such as gas, oil and coal have doubled, and Germany is the largest importer.

During this period, exports amounted to 62 billion euros, or about 82.9 trillion won in Korean money.

Of this, the EU and EU countries imported 44 billion euros.

But last year, EU countries imported an average of 12 billion euros per month, which is almost double that of 24 billion euros when converted into two months’ worth.

This phenomenon is due to the surge in energy prices.

Russian crude oil shipments to foreign ports have decreased by about 30%, but Russia is taking more money as energy prices soared.

According to data from the Energy Clean Air Research Center, Germany, Italy, China and the Netherlands were the top importers.

The Energy Clean Air Research Center said, “The cash earned from energy exports is supporting Putin’s war.” “Countries that buy Russian fossil fuels are complicit with the Russian military, which is horribly violating international law.”

There are circumstances in each country, but it is ironic that Russia is paying the cost of war unintentionally. Did the UN Secretary-General also visit Ukraine?

[기자]

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres visited Moscow, Russia, and Kiiu, Ukraine.

The UN Security Council has frankly acknowledged the failure of the Security Council, saying it has failed to prevent and end the war.

Let’s listen to what Guterres has to say.

What do you mean that Russian tanks are being criticized for design flaws?

[기자]

CNN reported on the report by the British Defense Minister to Parliament.

It is estimated that the Russians lost about 580 tanks in the nine weeks following the invasion of Ukraine, due to a design flaw in the turrets in the tanks.

If you look at the title, ‘jack in the box’ is a word that can be translated into Korean as ‘surprise box’ that bounces off a spring that is given as a gift when you were a child.

When a Russian tank is attacked by missiles, it is said that the ammunition storage under the turret explodes and bounces up to the height of a two-story building like a ‘surprise box’.

It is said that this phenomenon occurs because there is no separate ammunition storage available and the ammunition storage is placed under the tanker’s feet.

While the West has overcome these flaws after the Gulf War, Russian tanks still have these flaws.
