Johannesburg: Team India has arrived in South Africa for the ODI series with youngsters like Venkatesh Iyer and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Seven years later, Virat Kohli is stepping down as captain. In the absence of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul will lead Team India. Thus the ODI series has some peculiarities. Meanwhile, former India captain Wasim Jaffer has predicted the first ODI playing XI.
Veteran Shikhar Dhawan and skipper KL Rahul are the team’s openers. Jaffer says Gaikwad will have to wait a little longer. No shaking for third place. Collie is an automatic choice. Fans are hopeful that Kohli will find the run as the captaincy is not heavy. Shreyas Iyer will be fourth at the crease. He scored a century in his debut Test against New Zealand. But he did not get a chance in the series against South Africa.
Later, wicketkeeper Rishabh will reach the crease. The ball will be played above Suryakumar Yadav. Shardul Thakur will play the pace bowler all-rounder. R Ashwin is one of the two spinners in the team. Yusvendra Chahal is also in the team. Jaspreet Bumra is the standout pacer. Jaffer said Bhuvneshwar Kumar or Mohammad Sirajo would be another pacer in the team.
