Sad! South Africa Baptizes in River as ‘Flash Flood’ Kills 14

The heavy rain caused flash floods. A total of 14 people were killed in South Africa who attended a river baptism in Johannesburg, with many still missing.

Johannesburg Emergency Management spokesperson Roburg Mulaudzi said 33 residents attended a church service on the banks of the Jukskei River on Saturday when the water overflowed without them realizing it

Initial reports indicated that there were only nine deaths, before the figure jumped to 14 after five more bodies were found. because many villagers are still missing

“Two people were swept away and confirmed dead,” he said, adding that 12 more bodies were later found. The priest who performed the baptism was one of those who survived.

The rescue team And firefighters are still rushing to find the missing. But he admitted that the chances of finding a survivor were very slim.

This type of flooding occurs regularly in this part of Johannesburg. There are thunderstorms almost every night during the Southern Hemisphere summer.

Mulaudzi admitted that the authorities did not have a rule preventing villagers from going to the river to practice their religion. “But we still need to warn people of the dangers. to prevent such a tragedy from happening again.”
