(Seoul = International News) Reporter Seok Choi = Samsung Electronics announced its consolidated sales of 63.67 trillion won and operating profit of 12.57 trillion won in the second quarter of 2021.
In the second quarter, despite slowing smartphone sales due to the low season and insufficient parts supply, the company actively responded to the memory demand centering on servers and recorded the highest sales in the second quarter as sales of premium home appliances were also brisk.
Compared to the same period of the previous year, it increased by 20.2% mainly in memory, TV, and home appliances.
Operating profit recorded 12.57 trillion won as the memory market improved and the foundry Austin plant normalized, while display performance improved thanks to a rise in selling prices and one-off profits.
The set business also maintained solid profitability through active use of SCM (supply chain management) capabilities, even under difficult conditions such as a shortage of parts.
Operating profit margin was 19.7%, a significant improvement from the previous quarter and the same period last year.
