Samsung exports 1 trillion won to US mobile carriers… JY Network pays attention

Samsung Electronics has succeeded in winning an order for 5G (5G) mobile communication equipment from DC Network, the fourth US mobile communication operator. This is the second largest contract among Samsung Electronics’ North American 5G communication equipment supply contracts. The total contract size is estimated to exceed 1 trillion won. It is known that Lee Jae-yong’s global network, which he met with DC Network Chairman Charles Ergan last year, played a strong supporting role in the communications equipment business.

Samsung Electronics supplies radio products including △5G virtualized base station (vRAN) and multiple input/output base station (Massive MIMO) for the establishment of the US 5G national network of DC Network. DC Network plans to enter into a full-fledged competition for subscriber acquisition by introducing next-generation communication equipment such as Samsung Electronics’ 5G virtualized base station and establishing a stable nationwide communication network as soon as possible.

The 5G virtualized base station supplied by Samsung Electronics to DC implements the base station function by loading software on a general-purpose server. It is a next-generation technology that supports the construction and operation of flexible and efficient communication networks. After successfully commercializing a virtual base station in the US for the first time in the industry in December 2020, Samsung Electronics has proven its superior performance and differentiated commercial capabilities in global markets such as the UK and Japan. “The 5G virtualization base station, which integrates Samsung Electronics’ next-generation software technology and global commercial capabilities, is leading a paradigm shift in the telecommunication market,” said Jeon Kyung-hoon, head of Samsung Electronics’ Network Business Division. said

In the process of negotiating the DC network with Samsung Electronics, Vice Chairman Lee’s global network played a decisive role. It is reported that Vice Chairman Lee and Chairman Charles, who visited South Korea, met in person and actually finished the negotiations by climbing Mt. Bukhan together for a long time.

Vice-Chairman Lee, who has been actively interacting with the world’s information and communication technology (ICT) industry leaders, has shown wide strides and has provided direct and indirect support for 5G communication equipment sales. Prior to this, at the time of the 7.9 trillion won supply contract signed with Verizon in the United States in 2020 and the Japan NTT DoCoMo contract last year, Vice Chairman Lee directly met with the CEO of the telecommunication company to advance the negotiations. Reliance Gio, India’s largest telecommunication company, to which Vice Chairman Lee was the only Korean businessperson to be invited to the wedding of the group chairman’s child, is currently using 100% Samsung base stations for the nationwide mobile communication network.

Large-scale new orders for Samsung Electronics’ 5G telecommunication equipment are expected to significantly benefit domestic small and medium-sized business partners. Ace Tech and KMW (KMW), which supply base station equipment, and related partners such as Seojin System, RFTech, and Giga Lane are also expected to have a positive effect on earnings growth as DC network equipment supplies begin in earnest in the second half of the year.
