Libyan striker Ahmed Iqbairi (26) will wear the Samsung Fire & Marine team uniform as the first overall pick.

Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Manager Kim Sang-woo, who was lucky to be selected first according to the nomination order lottery, called Ikbyiri in the 2022 Korean Volleyball Federation (KOVO) Men’s Foreign Player Draft held at the Rivera Hotel in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the 29th. Ikbayri, who played in Europe, such as Serbia and Slovenia, said, “I didn’t expect to be selected as the first. He wants to stand at the top of the V-League.”

Manager Kim Sang-woo, who took the baton of Samsung Fire, said, “Ikbairi is a player with extraordinary jumping ability and agility.”

Hyundai Capital, who placed the most marbles (35) in the lottery at the bottom of last season and was pushed back to the second place nomination, chose Oreoll Cameho (36). Cameho played for LIG Insurance in the 2012-2013 season, and is a player familiar with volleyball fans as he contributed to Hyundai Capital’s regular league 1st place and championship runner-up in the 2015-2016 season. He was a Cuban citizen at the time, but became a naturalized Russian citizen in 2018. Cameho was delighted, saying, “I definitely wanted to go back to Hyundai Capital, and thank you for choosing me.” Hyundai Capital manager Choi Tae-woong said, “Kameho’s age is not small, but he doesn’t have to worry about his physical strength.”

KB Insurance, which broke up with Keita Nomori, who was awarded the MVP award in the regular league last season as the top scorer for two consecutive seasons, appointed Serbian striker Nikola Melanac (23). KB Sonbo Huh In-jung, who played for Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance for three seasons, chose Melanac after debating between Thais Dul Host (31), who took the top scorer twice in three seasons, and Melanak. KEPCO, who has the next pick, took TYS.

Korean Air, Woori Card, and OK Financial Group have renewed their contracts with outsiders Lincoln Williams, Leo Andric, and Leonardo Leiva Martinez, who worked together last season, respectively.
