The Samsung Lions of professional baseball lost the first match of the final two consecutive regular league matches. As KT Wiz, tied for first place with Samsung, also lost to Kiwoom, the final winner of the Pannuntrace was decided on the 30th.
Samsung finished the match against NC in the ‘2021 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League’ held at Changwon NC Park on the 29th, 1-3. With this, Samsung and KT continued the tie with 75 wins, 59 losses, and 9 draws.
Samsung starter Baek Jeong-hyeon took on his fifth loss of the season. In 7.1 innings, he gave up seven hits and gave up three runs, but did not win the game.
The other line hardly showed concentration. It was a single shot and did not result in a goal. Only Koo Ja-wook and Oh Jae-il did their part by getting on base three times.
On this day, Samsung was anxious from the start. After one shot in the first inning, Ja-wook Koo advanced to second base with an infield hit and a shortstop error and got a scoring opportunity. Next, Pinella filled up to first base with a ball that fit her body, but no follow-up hit came. Rather, Samsung gave up the lead in the bottom of the first inning and was dragged away. Leading batsman Choi Jeong-won gave up a hit, which led to a run. Joo-won Kim and Seong-beom Na were treated with a ground ball and a floating ball, respectively, but they were hit by Yang Eui-ji on the right time and conceded the first run.
Samsung’s counterattack was not easy. He backed off with a triple strike in the second and third innings in a row. In the beginning of the 4th inning, Oh Jae-il had a hit, but Pinella struck out, followed by Kang Min-ho’s batted ball, which led to a death.
Busy on the way, Samsung conceded another point in the bottom of the fourth inning. After the first death, he was hit with a 115-meter solo cannon by Yang Eui-ji. Samsung missed another chance to score in the fifth inning. After Lee Won-seok hit a hit and went out, Kim Ji-chan made a bunt hit and had a chance to counterattack, but Kim Sang-soo and Park Hae-min retreated with a ground ball and strikeout.
Even in the sixth inning, Samsung’s batting line did not show concentration. At the end of the 6th inning, Koo Ja-wook hit a double that hit the right fence and survived until Oh Jae-il by a mistake at third base, but Pirella and Kang Min-ho were out. Even though Kim Dong-yeop’s walk gave him a chance to fill the ground, even Lee Won-seok withdrew with a strikeout and the attack was in vain.
Samsung’s counterattack started in the eighth. This time, Ja-wook Koo opened the door. At the end of the full-count battle, when he made a walk, Jae-il Oh hit a hit and made first and second bases safely. After that, Pinella and Kang Min-ho were out again and the mood subsided, and he pulled out a pinch card. Kang Han-wool, who entered the lineup instead of Kim Heon-gon, hit the right time and called Koo Ja-wook home.
The joy of scoring was short-lived, but Samsung conceded a score in the bottom of the 8th inning, and the loss deepened. After the first death, Choi Jung-won and Kim Joo-won received consecutive hits, widening the score to 1-3. After that, Samsung could not use its strength in the last attack in the ninth and just sat down.
