For the first time in professional baseball’s single league history, the first place match (tie breaker) was held.
KT Wiz won the final match of the regular season against Shinhan Bank 2021 SOL KBO League SSG Landers at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on the 30th, 8-3 using Jared Hoing’s decisive 3-point home run as a stepping stone.
With a record of 76 wins, 9 draws and 59 losses, kt finished the regular season tied for first place with the Samsung Lions who defeated the NC Dinos on the same day.
The two teams will play the first place match with unlimited innings at Daegu Samsung Lions Park at 2 pm on the 31st according to the rules.
The match for the first place will be played until a winner is decided without a penalty shootout or a draw.
Individual and team scores in tiebreaker matches are not included in regular league and postseason scores. It does not affect individual titles.
It is the first time since a tiebreaker match was held in professional baseball since the tiebreakers between the OB Bears and the Haitai Tigers in the late 1986 tiebreakers.
This is the first time in a single league.
SSG fell to 6th place and failed to advance to the postseason as they were caught by the Kiwoom Heroes, who defeated the KIA Tigers.
In the first inning, kt terrified Kim Gun-woo, who started the opposing team. Leading hitter Cho Yong-ho’s heavy hit and Hwang Jae-gyun and Kang Baek-ho’s consecutive walks gave him a chance to complete the base safely.

In the ninth inning, closing pitcher Kim Jae-yoon came and finished the game.
Hoying, who joined kt as a substitute in the middle of the season, led the victory by recording two hits and three RBIs and one run in five at-bats, including a three-run home run.
