Sanju Samson, Tilak Verma and Shardul Tilangi; Good score for India A vs New Zealand A

Chennai: A good score for India A in the 3rd ODI against New Zealand A. India captain Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to bat at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Sanju (54), Shardul Thakur (51) and Tilak Verma (50) shone as India scored 284 runs in 49.3 overs. Jacob Duffy, Matthew Fisher and Michael Rippon took two wickets each.

Abhimanyu Eswaran (39) and Rahul Tripathi (18) returned after adding 55 runs for the opening wicket. India lost Abhimanyu’s wicket for the first time and he hit eight boundaries. Sanju came to the crease at third. But Tripathi also made a comeback by adding 10 more runs on the scoreboard. Later, Sanju-Tilak combined at the crease and added 99 runs.

Tilak’s innings included three sixes and a four. Tilak was returned by Rachin Ravindra. KS Bharat (9) then came to the crease in just nine balls. When Bharat was dismissed, India were 175 for four. With this, Sanju got a bit defensive. But the star could not stay in the crease for long. Sanju, who scored 54 runs off 68 balls, was run down in front of the wicket by Jacob Duffy. There were two sixes and one four in the Malayali star’s innings.

Rajangad Bawa (4) made a quick comeback but Shardul led India to a good score in partnership with Rishi Dhawan (34). With Dhawan’s return, he gave up the tail end without even stopping to fight. Rahul Chahar (1) and Kuldeep Sen (0) are the other players out. Kuldeep Yadav (5) remained unbeaten. Shardul had run out. The player who faced 33 balls had three sixes and four fours in his tally.
