Re-entry visas allow people living in Saudi Arabia on work visas or dependent visas to leave the country. Expatriates in Saudi Arabia usually need to obtain a fixed-term re-entry visa to return home. Expatriates must return to Saudi Arabia before the re-entry period expires. Sponsors can renew the validity of such visas if the residency document has a validity period and the validity of the re-entry visa does not exceed two months.
Re-entry visa can be extended for one month by contacting the Saudi Consulate or Embassy in the respective country with a letter from the sponsors of those who do not return within the re-entry visa period. However, the Abshir platform under the Home Ministry has revealed that re-entry visas 60 days after the expiration date cannot be extended online.
Sponsors from Saudi Arabia can renew their work electronically while the worker is abroad. Officials said the re-entry period could be extended electronically only if the worker was out of the country. Those wishing to extend the re-entry must first pay the fee. After paying the fee, the re-entry should be extended through the Abshir platform. The owner of the iqama must be abroad. Iqama should be valid and the re-entry period should not exceed two months.
