Dammam: The Dammam Criminal Court has upheld the death sentence of six accused, including two Malayalees, in the murder case of Sameer Saudi in Koduvalli Mukilangadi Velattukuzhi, Dammam, Kozhikode.
Nizam Sadiq (Nizamuddin), carpenter Ajmal Hameed from Kuttyadi, Saudi nationals Hussain, Azwad, Idris (Abu Rawan) and Ali were sentenced to death. Sameer’s body was found five years ago near a garbage can in the workshop area of Jubail.
Sameer, a hawala agent, was abducted by locals and held hostage for three days, but was later beaten to death for not receiving money. Police found that it was Nizam and Ajmal who provided the required information to the gang.
The family members of the accused are preparing to file a mercy petition to the Saudi ruler through the Indian embassy in the wake of the appellate court verdict. But Sameer’s family, which includes his wife and 2 small children, will only see the result of the mercy petition if they are willing to forgive.
