A big surprise in the first semi-final match of the World Club Championship, Al Hilal from Saudi Arabia eliminated the Brazilian Flamengo, after a victory in Tangier, a city in the far north of Morocco – 3:1.

Salem Al-Dawsari became famous at the World Cup in Qatar, when Saudi Arabia created a sensation, defeating the later world champion Argentina precisely with the goal of the 31-year-old Saudi.

Now Al-Dawsari also defeated the Brazilian Flamengo, with two goals, although both from penalties. Already in the fourth minute, Al-Dawsari put Al Hilal in the lead, reports N1.

It seemed that things would go their way when, in the 20th minute, Pedro equalized after a great pass from Meteusinho. However, the end of the first half had the worst possible epilogue for the famous Flamengo.

In the eighth minute of stoppage time, Gerson missed a penalty, received a second yellow card, and Al-Dawsari was accurate once again, for his team’s second lead.

With a player more, Al Hilal successfully brought the match to an end, and the door to the grand final opened after the goal of the Argentine Vietto in the 70th minute, on a pass from Al-Dawsari. In the first minute of injury time, Pedro gave the Brazilians hope that they could go to extra time, but Flamengo did not have the strength to equalize.

In the second semi-final in Rabat, Spain’s Real Madrid and Egypt’s Al Ahli will compete, that match is scheduled for Wednesday at 8 p.m.

The matches for third place, i.e. the grand final, will be played on February 11.
