A school of live fish fell from the sky in a remote village in remote Australia.

According to foreign media such as Australian ABC News on the 21st, heavy rain fell in the village of Rajamanu, located near the Tanami Desert in northern Australia, and hundreds of fish poured out.

“The fish were about the size of two fingers and alive when they fell from the sky,” said local councilor Andrew Johnson Japananga. The villagers were amazed, saying, “Fish that fall from the sky,” and the children who gathered to watch pick up the fish and keep it in a bottle or fish bowl.

The fish that fell on Rajamanu was identified as a spongy perch, one of Australia’s most common freshwater fish, and was found to have flown from a river about 500 km away.

Meteorologists explained that a strong hurricane-like updraft could engulf water and fish and transport them hundreds of kilometers away.

This is not the first time something like this has happened in Rajamanu. According to ABC News, similar incidents have been reported in the past, including in 1974, 2004 and 2010.

Children who came out to see schools of fish that fell from the sky picked them up and stored them in small jars or fish tanks. (Facebook)
