Se Jin-ya and Lee Seung-woo, K-League pride and Son Heung-min and ‘goalkeeper match’

Sejinya (Daegu) from Brazil, who is considered the best foreign striker in the history of professional soccer K League, and Seungwoo Lee (Suwon FC), who has recently improved in scoring, will play a scoring contest with Son Heung-min (Tottenham), who is the world’s best goalkeeper.

The Korea Professional Football Federation announced on the 7th the list of 24 K-League players who will play a friendly match against Tottenham Hotspur (England) in the first round of the ‘Coupang Play Series’ held at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on the 13th.

Se Jin-ya, who is recognized as a striker representing the K-League beyond Daegu, proudly raised his name.

Se Jin-ya, who debuted on the domestic stage in 2016 and played only with one team in Daegu, scored 73 goals in 197 regular league games over seven seasons.

This season, he has scored 5 goals and provided 5 assists.

Sejinya scored 23 goals in the Premier League (EPL) last season and became the joint top scorer with Muhammad Salah (Liverpool).

Se Jin-ya and Son Heung-min have both picked Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United) as their ‘idol’.

After scoring in a friendly match between Team K League and Juventus in July 2019, Sejinya drew attention by displaying his proprietary ‘rainy ceremony’ in front of Ronaldo.

Son Heung-min said in several interviews that Ronaldo is his ‘role model’.

The team K-League squad selected two players from each of the 12 K-League 1 teams.

Based on the list of recommendations submitted by each club, Team K League coach Sang-sik Kim (Jeonbuk), coach Kim Do-gyun (Suwon FC), and the Professional Federation Technical Committee consulted and selected the selection.

The Professional Federation explained, “We selected players who are showing the best skills by position in the current K-League. We have made up a diverse squad of Korean players, foreign players, and players under the age of 22.”

Veteran Kim Young-kwang (Seongnam) and national goalkeeper Jo Hyeon-woo (Ulsan) were named as goalkeepers side by side.

The national team’s Kim Jin-soo, last season’s K-League 1 MVP Hong Jeong-ho (Jeonbuk, above), Lee Ki-je, and Bulltooth (Soowon) were selected for the defense.

Attacker Lee Seung-woo (Suwon FC), who made his debut in the K-League this season and is attracting a lot of attention not only for his performance but also for his ‘dance ceremony’, was also selected.

Kim Dae-won and Yang Hyeon-joon, who lead the attack of Gangwon FC, Palosevic and Jo Young-wook of FC Seoul, and Ulsan Hyundai’s ‘Um Salah’ Won-sang Eom Won-sang were named in the midfield along with Lee Seung-woo.

Ju Min-gyu (Jeju) and Jo Gyu-seong (Gimcheon), who are competing for the top scorer, were selected as strikers along with Se Jin-ya and Ras (Suwon FC).
