Seoul area lawmakers from the Democratic Party of Korea agreed to oppose the ‘Song Young-gil election theory’ within the party.

While Song announced that he would reveal his position on running for mayor of Seoul tomorrow, members of the Democratic Party’s Seoul area gathered at the National Assembly Health and Welfare Committee Chairman Kim Min-seok’s office after the assembly meeting today to discuss the candidacy of Song.

A lawmaker who attended the meeting said in a phone call with MBC, “The meeting was held at the suggestion of Rep. Nam In-soon, and about 20 lawmakers participated in person, and some lawmakers expressed their agreement over the phone.”

“The majority of opinions were that there was no justification for former president Song Young-gil, who is responsible for the presidential election, to run for mayor of Seoul,” Lee said.

Another lawmaker also said, “More than 90% of the votes were against Song’s running for mayor of Seoul.” .

It is said that the attendees expressed their resentment towards the form of ex-CEO Song, who was responsible for losing the presidential election, as he was regarded as the ‘only alternative’ and was elected.

Members of the Seoul area will deliver their views gathered at the meeting to the Democratic Party leadership and former President Song.

There is a collective backlash within the party, and interest is focused on whether Song will announce his position on the candidacy through SNS tomorrow as predicted.
