Seoul Considers Introducing Integrated Commuter Pass for Unlimited Public Transportation Use
(Seoul = Yonhap News) – The Seoul Metropolitan Government, in collaboration with Gyeonggi-do and Incheon City, is currently exploring the possibility of implementing an integrated commuter pass that would provide unlimited access to public transportation across the three local governments.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government and relevant organizations, it is being reported that Seoul is contemplating the issuance of a monthly commuter pass, allowing unrestricted use of public transportation within the city for a fee ranging from 50,000 to 70,000 won.
The potential implementation of commuter passes tailored to the elderly and foreigners is also being actively discussed.
Expansion Plans in the Metropolitan Area
Furthermore, the Seoul Metropolitan Government is considering extending the usage of this proposed commuter pass to the entire metropolitan area, including Gyeonggi-do and Incheon. To explore this possibility, meetings have recently been conducted with local authorities and transportation organizations such as Incheon, Gyeonggi-do, and Korail.
Final coordination among all relevant agencies is being carried out, with the Seoul Metropolitan Government planning to make a formal announcement next week regarding the introduction of these unlimited commuter tickets for public transportation.
