As a result of reflecting the school’s record in the regular screening of Seoul National University in 2023, an analysis revealed that high school and high school seniors have an advantage.

According to Jongno Academy on the 2nd, out of the 1,415 students who passed the Seoul National University regular exam this year, 57.7% (817 students) graduated from general high schools, up 1.6 percentage points from last year (56.1%).

Among the students admitted, 33.1% (468 students) were from special purpose secondary schools such as science secondary schools, foreign language secondary schools, international secondary schools, autonomous private secondary schools, and gifted secondary schools, down 2.6 percentage points since the last year (35.7%).

This is a drop of 11.8 points since 2013 (44.9%) 10 years ago.

Among them, the percentage of students who passed the gifted secondary schools only rose from 2.5% last year to 2.9% this year.

Among the successful applicants, the proportion of high school seniors was 41.1% (582 students), up 2.7 percentage points from last year (38.4%).

On the other hand, the percentage of ‘students’ who passed the exam, including resits and three or more students, was 57.3% (811 students), down 1.2 percentage points from 58.5% last year.

The pass rate for re-sits was 39.7% (562 students), higher than last year (38.1%), but those who were third or higher were 17.6% (249 students), down significantly since last year (20.5%).

The percentage of students who passed the GED also decreased from last year (3.0%) to 1.6% (22 students).

Lim Seong-ho, CEO of Jongno Academy, analyzed, “Since this year, Seoul National University has regularly reflected school records. As a result, general high school and senior high school students have a great advantage, and a high special purpose it is Schools, private secondary schools, and students must have been at a disadvantage.”

Meanwhile, the acceptance rate for female students at Seoul National University early and regular this year was 35.7%, down from last year (37.0%).

According to Jongno Academy, the ratio of female students passing the exam at Seoul National University is declining as male students receive relatively higher scores in mathematics after the integrated CSAT.

In the 2021 school year, before the integrated CSAT, the pass rate for female students was 40.6%, but it went down to 35.7% in 2023 following the 37.0% in 2022 after the implementation of the integrated CSAT.

In addition, the proportion of students living in Seoul among regular admission students increased from last year (44.4%) to 48.5%.

This is the highest figure since the 2014 school year (44.1%), when the distribution of those who passed by region was announced.

Regarding this, CEO Lim said, “There was a balanced regional selection, but as a result, it would not have been possible to pass the exam if the CSAT score was not supported.”
