Sergio Perez (Red Bull Racing) finished the 2022 F1 Round 6 Spanish Grand Prix Friday free run in 7th fastest time.
Red Bull Racing appointed rookie Juri Vips in place of Sergio Perez for the first free practice session. Sergio Perez, who started in the afternoon, said he prioritized learning tires in one session.
“If you miss a session, everything goes fast. This afternoon I experienced a tire degradation to stay up to date. In other words, it’s not a track that helps the tires, so I basically decided to make two laps. I have one lap to read the balance, and after that I’m speeding up, but I don’t have much grip, “Comment Sergio Perez.
“I could read it on a long run, but I hope I can find the time needed to compete for the pole overnight. I’ll do some extra work on low fuel in the morning FP3 and go in either direction. I’ll check if, but we’re confident. “
“I’m glad I was able to lend my car to Yuri in the morning. I think he had a good time there and did an important job for the team.”
