Series of losses, Aston Villa sack coach Gerrard

London: The English football club has sacked Steven Gerrard from Aston Villa’s coaching position. One of England’s greatest ever footballers, Gerrard failed to excel as a coach. Gerrard was sacked after Aston Villa lost 3-0 to Fulham in the English Premier League.

Aston Villa’s performance this season has been miserable. The team has managed just two wins under Gerrard after completing 11 games. They have drawn three and lost six games. Aston Villa are currently 17th in the points table.

Gerrard resigns after coaching the team for 11 months. Gerrard was appointed Aston Villa coach last November. Gerrard, who replaced Dean Smith after the sacking, led the team to 14th place last season.

Aston Villa played 40 games under Gerrard. Out of these they won 13 games and lost 19 games. Before joining Aston Villa, Gerrard was the coach of Scottish club Rangers. The team also won the Scottish title in 2021.
