Serious injury: Saudi star Al Zahrani underwent surgery in Germany

Doha: Saudi Arabia defender Yasser Al-Zahrani was injured during a defensive effort in the match against Argentina in the World Cup. Al-Zahrani was injured by goalkeeper Muhammad Al-Owais’ knee while defending a long ball that entered the Saudi box. The star is said to have a broken jaw and fractured left facial bone.

At first glance it was clear that the injury was serious. Zahrani then had to be rushed to hospital for a scan. Doctors suggested surgery to stop the internal bleeding. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman immediately ordered the star to be flown to Germany for treatment, Gulf Today reported.

A public holiday has been declared in Saudi Arabia today to celebrate the victory over Argentina.
