Singer Shu (real name Yoo Soo-young, 40), a former member of the group SES, claimed, “Shin Jung-hwan was an illegal gambler and I wasn’t.” Netizens were stunned by the sophistication of Shu, who was sentenced to a suspended sentence for causing a scandal for habitual gambling abroad.

Shu made this claim by appearing on the podcast broadcast ‘Jung Young-jin Choi Wook’s Hawkeye Show’ on the 18th.

On this day, MC Choi Wook said, “Shin Jung-hwan once appeared on ‘Maebul Show’.

He came out and killed him, so it wasn’t fun, so it was difficult for people watching,” compared with Shin Jung-hwan, a broadcaster who caused a stir in expedition gambling. Shu said, “(Shin Jung-hwan) oppa was illegal, and I wasn’t.”

When asked if he was punished for habitual gambling abroad, Shu said, “It’s not illegal. I did it outright.” Then he said, “I’m sorry. What did you do well?” he added.

When Choi Wook asked again, “Isn’t it a fact that I was punished for habitual gambling abroad?” Shu answered, “It was a violation of the Foreign Exchange Transactions Act. I didn’t know that was illegal. I thought it was just my money. I really didn’t know,” he said.

When asked why he gambled, Shu said, “It wasn’t because of stress. I admit I was right, but then, gamblers suddenly gathered around me. I came across it because an acquaintance did it for me.” He said, “Even if it’s fun, you should never do it. It is true that my choice was wrong, but the surrounding environment is important.”

Shu, who recently returned to Internet broadcasting after 4 years and was engulfed in controversy, said, “There were many criticisms of ‘there was no sincerity’. He explained, “I plan to donate the donations received from the broadcast to volunteer organizations.

Netizens were taken aback by Shu’s claim that day. Netizens reacted critically, such as “This year’s sophistry that it’s not illegal to say it out loud”, “Is gambling legal if you say it outright”, and “You don’t know that gambling is illegal?”

Shu was accused of fraud after borrowing 600 million won from two people at a casino in a hotel in Seoul in 2018 and failing to pay it back. Afterwards, the prosecution dismissed the charges of fraud, but in 2020, the 25th Civil Settlement Division of the Seoul Central District Court ruled against Shu, saying, “Return 346 million won,” in a lawsuit against Shu for the refund of the loan paid by Mr. Park.

In the process, Shu’s side told a media outlet, “Because gambling itself is illegal, the debt-to-debt relationship cannot be recognized.” Therefore, it is right not to be punished for gambling crimes.”

However, during the investigation process, the prosecution confirmed that Suga habitually gambled 790 million won in foreign countries, including Macau, from August 2016 to May 2018. Shu was sentenced to 6 months in February 2019. was sentenced to two years of probation and 80 hours of community service.

On the 10th of last month, when he had been self-reflecting, he appeared on TV Chosun’s ‘Star Documentary My Way’ and said, “I went through a difficult time enough to think about making an extreme choice. She is working part-time at her sister’s academy and at her acquaintance’s clothing store.” She later announced that she would challenge a counseling coach to combat gambling.
