Islamabad: A Lahore court has ordered the filing of a case against Pakistan cricket captain Babur Assam for allegedly harassing her after promising her marriage.
The court directed the Federal Investigation Agency to file a case on charges of intimidation and torture. Hamisa Mukhtar, a resident of Lahore, had lodged a complaint against Babur Assam alleging sexual harassment.
Hamisa first lodged a complaint with the police in November 2020. The woman later lodged a complaint with the FIA.
According to the complaint, Babur had molested Assam and cheated her by promising to marry her. According to the complaint, the woman was forced to have an abortion. The woman had also submitted some medical documents related to the incident to the court.
At the same time, Babur Assam said that the sexual harassment case was his personal matter. Babur Assam said it is common to face obstacles in life as an athlete. Assam has made it clear that personal issues will not affect his performance on tours to South Africa and Zimbabwe.
“This is my personal problem, and it is in court, even if it is handled by my lawyer. I face all kinds of obstacles in life and this issue has not affected my performance, ”Babur told a press conference in Assam.
