Shanghai Apple supplier factory workers ‘group escape’

In the middle of the night at an Apple supplier’s factory in Shanghai, China, hundreds of employees broke out of lockdown in a mass escape.

As the number of confirmed cases in the company dormitory increased, it happened in fear of rumors that employees might be locked up in the factory.

On the 5th, a group escape of employees took place in the middle of the night at the factory of Apple’s partner ‘Quanta’ in Shanghai.

When the factory that makes Apple’s MacBooks was put under lockdown in Shanghai,

External contact has been blocked and 2,000 employees have been operating the production line while providing meals and lodging in the dormitory.

Nevertheless, as the number of confirmed cases continued to rise, an order was issued to wait at the factory rather than returning to the dormitory.

As rumors spread that they could be locked up in an empty factory, employees set out to escape.

Last week, it emphasized that the utilization rate of 1,800 major factories in Shanghai had recovered to 70%.

It is known that there are not a few places, such as Quanta, where there are a number of confirmed cases in factories, causing production disruptions.

China’s exports in April increased by only 3.9% compared to the same month last year.

It is down more than 10 percentage points from March, and the impact of the Shanghai lockdown is in full swing.
