Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League 2023 Nears Milestone of 7 Million Viewers

Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League 2023 Sets to Break Attendance Records with 7 Million Viewers

September 24, 2023 – Jamsil Baseball Stadium, Seoul

The Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League 2023 is on the verge of surpassing a significant milestone as it enters the final stretch of the season. A breathtaking view of Jamsil Baseball Stadium, the home ground for the LG Twins and Doosan Bears, sets the stage for what could be an unprecedented accomplishment – exceeding 7 million attendees.

If today’s match follows the usual trend, the total number of viewers is very likely to surpass 7 million mark for the first time in four years since the 2019 season. As of yesterday (23rd), the cumulative attendance for the KBO 2023 league stood at 6,996,668 for 637 games, leaving a mere 9,332 individuals to reach the coveted 7 million attendance mark. Should this significant milestone be reached today, it will mark the 641st game of the season, achieving a staggering 7 million viewers in just 91 games since surpassing the 6 million mark on August 31.

If achieved within just 91 games, this remarkable feat will be the fastest pace ever witnessed since the advent of the 10-team system. The previous record for reaching 7 million attendance was set in the 2017 season, taking 93 games – the lowest number of games needed at that time to achieve the milestone, thus making it a historical record in itself within the KBO league.

Excitement is at an all-time high with 83 games still remaining in the season. The competition for fall baseball tickets has become fiercer than ever, and fan interest is soaring. With this momentum, there is hope that the league can achieve a new milestone of 8 million viewers, an achievement not witnessed since the 2018 season.

Top Teams Vying for Attendance Title

As of the 23rd, the LG Twins currently lead the attendance rankings with 1,030,223 viewers. They are followed closely by the SSG Landers with 903,319 attendees. Meanwhile, the Doosan Bears, Lotte Giants, and Samsung Lions have also surpassed the remarkable feat of attracting over 700,000 enthusiastic fans.

The overall average attendance for the league stands at 10,974, marking a notable 34% increase compared to the same number of games last year. Furthermore, all 10 clubs in the KBO league have showcased an increase in average attendance compared to the previous season. The Kiwoom Heroes lead the pack with the highest surge in average attendance at an astounding 66%, closely followed by the NC Dinos at 62% and the Hanwha Eagles at 57%.

If the league surpasses the 7 million attendance mark, it will mark the seventh time since its initial achievement in the 2012 season and the sixth time since the implementation of the 10-team system in 2015.
