Sim Sang-jung halts election campaign

Justice Party “candidate resignation – not considering unification”

Justice Party presidential candidate Shim Sang-jung (pictured) announced on the 12th that he would temporarily suspend the election campaign schedule. However, the Justice Party drew a line saying, “It is not considering the possibility of resignation or unification of the candidates.”

In the afternoon of the same day, the Justice Party said, “Candidate Shim is taking the current election situation seriously, and after this time, all schedules are suspended and contemplated.” It is said that candidate Shim made this decision because he was concerned about the situation in which approval ratings rarely rise. Candidate Shim said in an interview with Channel A, which was the last schedule before the campaign schedule was suspended, “The public is very eager for a regime change, and I am sorry that I have not yet given faith as an alternative to that, and I am very worried.” Candidate Shim has been unable to exceed single digit approval ratings in various opinion polls, such as recording 4.3% in the Dong-A Ilbo New Year’s poll.

Regarding this, an official from the Justice Party said, “As the approval rating has been stagnant, there has been a steady demand for strategic and personnel renewal within the Party Election Countermeasures Committee.” did.
