[Singapore, 27th Reuters]–The Ministry of Health of Singapore announced that it has entered into a survey on “abnormal increase” after the number of new infections with the new coronavirus on the 27th reached 5,324, the highest number since the outbreak began.

The death toll confirmed on the 27th was 10, with a cumulative total of 349.

Today’s increase is at an unusual pace, mainly due to the fact that many of the positives were found in the afternoon hours,” the Ministry of Health issued a statement the same night. “We will closely examine the abnormal increase in a relatively short period of time and watch the trends in the next few days.”

The number of infected people on the previous day was 3277. The utilization rate of the intensive care unit (ICU) has reached nearly 80.

Nearly 98.7% of the 90,203 infected people in the past month are asymptomatic or mild, but about 0.2% of infected people have died. The ratio of patients treated in the ICU and severely ill patients is 0.1% each.

As of the 27th, there are around 72 vacant beds in the ICU. The overall utilization rate of ICU is 79.8%.

The Ministry of Health has announced a policy to increase the number of beds in the ICU. The government has 200 beds in the ICU for patients with the new corona, and can increase the number of beds by 100 in a short period of time.

The government announced on the 20th that it will extend some regulations to control the infection by about a month in order to reduce the pressure on medical care due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection. In Singapore, around 84% of the population is vaccinated and 14% are boosted (additional).
