Singapore surpasses 5,000 infections for first time after numbers spike in hours

Singapore Ministry of Health reported that Singapore’s daily number of cases surpassed 5,000 for the first time since the outbreak, with 5,324 people infected as of yesterday (Oct. 27) with 4,651 cases in the community. and another 661 people are in migrant workers’ homes.

“The number of infected people is unusually high today. Most were due to the large number of Covid-19 cases detected by the lab within hours of the afternoon. The health ministry is investigating an unusually short rise in the number of infections. and monitor the situation closely over the next few days,” said a statement from the Ministry of Health.

Now, even though Singapore has begun to open to tourists who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 from some countries, they can enter. But measures to contain the epidemic will remain in place until late November, including limiting gatherings of no more than two people, and will ease these measures after the hospital situation has stabilized.

The ICU utilization rate is now at 79.8%, slightly down from the beginning of the week. And 100 additional ICU beds will be available next week.
