Slovakia is also nationwide lockdown… Germany makes vaccination compulsory

Europe is facing a harsh winter as COVID-19 spreads across borders.

It is tightening the reins by strengthening various regulations such as blockade and mandatory vaccination, but it is pointed out that a breakthrough is needed to turn it back on the downward trend.

There have even been arguments that we should discuss making vaccines mandatory.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), in the week from the 15th to the 21st, there were 2.43 million new infections in Europe, accounting for 67% of the world.

This is an 11% increase compared to a week ago.

As COVID-19 spreads across borders, more and more countries are implementing lockdown measures.

Following Austria, neighboring Slovakia also entered a nationwide lockdown.

Experts say that it will not be easy to reverse the current trend without increasing the vaccination rate in continental Europe, which is currently only 57%, along with tightening regulations.

Accordingly, in addition to restricting access to those who are not vaccinated, the introduction of a reinforced vaccine pass is highly recommended.

The European Center for Disease Control and Prevention has recommended booster shots for all adults over the age of 18.

In particular, in Germany, where the rate of infection is the fastest in Europe, the compulsory vaccination plan has emerged.

It is known that medical facility workers will be required to vaccinate from January next year, and military personnel will soon be included in the compulsory subject.

Some even argue that it’s time for Europe to start discussing mandatory vaccination.

However, there are voices of concern, pointing to the possibility that mandatory vaccines could provoke widespread backlash.
