In the 17th and 18th presidential elections, he ran as a candidate for the presidential primary of the United New Democratic Party and the Democratic United Party, respectively, but he finished second in both. In the 19th presidential election, he contested the presidential primary of the People’s Party, but was defeated by Ahn Cheol-soo, the presidential candidate of the People’s Party.
On the 17th, he posted on his Facebook page titled ‘Presidential Election for System Change’, suggesting that he would run for president.
