Heung-Min Son (30, Tottenham)’s ‘Player of December’ award in the English Premier League (EPL) was unsuccessful.
The EPL Secretariat announced on the 14th (local time) that Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling has been selected as the ‘Player of the Month’ for December 2021.
Sterling scored five goals and provided one assist in five league matches last month, leading Manchester City to lead the league, earning his third career trophy.
Son Heung-min, who scored 4 goals and 1 assist in 5 games last month, was also included in the nomination, but it did not lead to the award.
In addition to Son Heung-min and Sterling, the candidates included Joao Cancelo (Manchester City), James Madison (Leicester City), Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal), Mason Mount (Chelsea) and Martin Odegor (Arsenal).
The manager of the month award also went to Pep Guardiola, and Manchester City, who had a winning streak in December, took home two trophies.
As the ‘Goal of the Month’, Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette scored the first goal in the 16th round against Southampton on the 11th of last month.
It was Lacazette’s right-footed goal from the center of the penalty area that Arsenal created a perfect process from the build-up to the opportunity.
