Son Heung-min selected by Chinese media as ‘Asia’s Best Footballer’ for 6 consecutive years

Son Heung-min (31), the first Asian player to become the top scorer in the English Professional Football Premier League (EPL), has been selected as the best football player in Asia for six consecutive years by Chinese sports media .

Chinese media Titan Zhoubao announced on the 6th that Son Heung-min has been selected as the winner of the 2022 Asian Golden Globe Awards.

This is the 6th year in a row since 2017 and the 8th award in total. Son Heung-min also won consecutive awards in 2014 and 2015.

This award was first created in 2013 by Titan Zhou Bao, based on the Ballon d’Or awarded by the French media, France Football.



It is aimed at players who play for countries or teams belonging to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and the first winner in 2013 was Japan’s Keisuke Honda.

Son Heung-min has won 8 out of 10 awards so far, holding the record for the most awards. In 2016, Shinji Okazaki (Japan) received it.

This year, Son Heung-min recorded a high approval rating of 256 points (26.7%). He was recognized for his contribution to becoming the EPL’s top scorer in the 2021-2022 season.

Mehdi Taremi (Porto) from the Iranian national team scored 120 points (12.5%) in second place, and Salem Al Dosari (Riyadh) from Saudi Arabia scored 112 points (11.7%) in third place.

Among Korean players, along with Son Heung-min, defender Kim Min-jae (Napoli) was fourth with 99 points.
