The former leader of the Democratic Party Song Young-gil, who is considered the pinnacle of the suspicion of distribution of money and goods at the convention of the Democratic Party, will voluntarily appear before the prosecution on the 7th. Previously, on the 2nd of last month, former CEO Song appeared at the prosecutor’s office saying that the prosecution would investigate him, but was refused.

Attorney Seon Jong-moon, the former legal representative of Young-gil Song, said in a press release on the 6th, “Former CEO Song will appear voluntarily at the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office in Seocho-gu, Seoul at 9:30 am on the 7th and try to meet with the investigation team.”

On the 3rd, former CEO Song also posted a post on his Facebook page, saying, “It has been a month and a half since I returned from Paris, but the prosecution is not summoning me.”

However, the prosecution is in the position that it has no plans to investigate former CEO Song again this time. The prosecution is speeding up the task of identifying the recipient of the money envelope while watching whether independent lawmakers Yoon Kwan-seok and Lee Seong-man, who previously requested arrest warrants, will be recruited. Prosecutors are investigating allegations that cash and valuables worth 60 million won were distributed to up to 20 members of the National Assembly to help former CEO Song win the election ahead of the Democratic Party convention in May 2021 .In addition, dozens of people, including the head of the regional headquarters of the party and the head of the regional situation office, are suspected of being scattered with money envelopes containing 500,000 won, and the investigation continues.
