Hwacheon Daeyu Asset Management (Hwacheon Daeyu), the developer of Daejang-dong, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, where suspicions of preferential treatment were raised, paid 5 billion won to the son of Kwak Sang-do (an independent, former power of the people) in the name of severance pay. ) will be the first member of the National Assembly investigation.

On the 28th, a feminist-oriented civic group, Citizen Action to Straighten Justice (Sasehaeng), filed a complaint with the Ministry of Public Security and Public Service against Rep. Kwak and his son, Mr.

Kim Han-me, CEO of Sase-haeng, held a press conference in front of the government complex in Gwacheon, where the Airborne Division is located on the afternoon of the same day, and said, “The 5 billion won that Hwacheon Daeyu paid to Kwak’s son in the name of severance pay is considered a bribe in return for Kwak.” called for an investigation.

If the Air Transport Service directly investigates this case, it will be the first incumbent member of the National Assembly investigation.

According to the Public Affairs Act, investigations against lawmakers, their spouses, and their immediate ascendants and descendants are possible. If the Ministry of Airborne Affairs receives a complaint against Rep. Kwak’s father and son, and then formally files a case after analyzing and reviewing the case, it will be the first case of a member of the National Assembly.

In addition to severance pay, even if performance-related pay and consolation payments for health problems are included, the amount of 5 billion won is far beyond the usual range, so the legal opinion is that an investigation into bribery is inevitable. If the investigation begins, the key will be whether Kwak received a huge severance pay of 5 billion won and whether to prove job-related compensation between the Hwacheon Daeyu business.

Mr. Kwak, who joined Hwacheon Daeyu in June 2015, retired as an assistant manager in March of this year and received 5 billion won as severance pay. Real income excluding tax was 2.8 billion won. Regarding this, Mr. Kwak said, “It is true that I earned a lot of money by working hard, being recognized, and hurting my body.” Hwacheon Daewoo also issued a statement saying, “According to the company’s internal payment standards and procedures, severance pay was legally paid.”

Rep. Kwak withdrew from the power of the people on the 26th, just one day after allegations of bribery were raised.

Earlier, the prosecution also launched an investigation into the matter. The Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office distributed the case in which the National Revolutionary Party charged Rep. Kwak, former Special Prosecutor Park Young-soo, and former United Future Party Chairman Yu-cheol Yu on allegations of bribery under the Special Act to the Economic Crimes Criminal Department (Chief Prosecutor Yoo Kyung-pil) on the 27th and began an investigation.

According to the National Revolutionary Party, Kwak joined Hwacheon Daeyu in 2015 and received a salary of 2.33 million to 3.83 million won (pre-tax basis) in the morning of the previous day. He filed a complaint, claiming that it was a job-related bribe that was equivalent to compensation.
