Sony releases PlayStation VR2… Price 799,000 won

Sony released the next generation virtual reality (VR) headset (HMD) PlayStation VR2 on the 22nd. It includes a VR2 headset, a pair of VR2 sense controllers, and stereo headphones, and the price is 798,000 won. You can enjoy VR games through a wired connection with the separately sold PS5 gaming console.

PS VR2 has a high resolution OLED display that supports 4K HDR. The viewing angle is 110 degrees and the resolution is 2000 × 2040. It supports a screen refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Vibration feedback is built into the headset itself to provide an immersive game/VR content experience.

I tested the Sony PlayStation VR2 before the official release. I was able to have such an immersive experience that 40 minutes of playtime felt like 5 minutes.

By realizing tracking inside that tracks the direction with the lens mounted on the headset, the direction of the user’s movement and gaze is identified. If you leave the default safety space range, the scenes outside the headset are projected in front of your eyes in black and white. The eye tracking function, which precisely recognizes eye movement, improves the convenience of operation.

The PS VR2 Sense Controller, which is used by holding in both hands, has basic action buttons and joysticks, as well as a 6-axis motion detection system, finger touch detection, and location tracking functions. The touch sensor realistically supports the interface of holding and extending a finger in a VR game.

In line with the release of Sony PS VR2, about 20 unique game titles such as △Horizon Call of the Mountain △ Star Wars Tales from the Galaxy Edge △Moss 1 & 2 △Townsman VR started service together. Sony plans to release more than 30 PS VR2 exclusive titles by March.
