Mumbai: Former India captain Kapil Dev has clarified the differences between Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and 9Surav Ganguly. Kapil Dev told ABP News that it was not right to point fingers at anyone during the crucial series against South Africa and that Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly should stop focusing on publicity and focus on cricket.

It is a great honor to be the President of the BCCI. So is the Indian captaincy. So it is not a good idea for both of them to go public in public. Virat Kohli should react with a little more restraint. The focus should be on playing for the country rather than controversy. No matter whose side the fall is, it will come out later. But now is the time to prepare for a crucial series. Kapil said Kohli’s focus should be on the series against South Africa this time.

Ganguly had earlier said that he had informed Virat Kohli about his removal from the post of ODI captain and had personally spoken to Kohli about it. But the controversy was sparked when Kohli and Ganguly completely rejected his arguments at a news conference ahead of his departure for the South African tour.

Kohli said the selection committee chairman had announced his removal from the post of ODI captain shortly after the selection committee meeting to select the Test team. In a press conference yesterday, Kohli also rejected Ganguly’s claim that he had asked Kohli not to step down as T20 captain after the World Cup.

Virat Kohli, who vacated the captaincy of the T20 team after the T20 World Cup, also lost his ODI captaincy ahead of the ODI series against South Africa. If Kohli had volunteered to resign as T20 captain, he would have been dropped from the ODI captaincy. When the T20 captain resigned, Kohli announced his intention to continue as ODI and Test captain. However, Kohli was angered by the selection committee’s decision to make Rohit Sharma the ODI captain.
