‘Spider-Man 3’ director no longer directing ‘Fantastic Four’ movies – Disney – Marvel Marvel Studios

“Spider-Man: No Home” director Jon Watts will no longer direct the new “Fantastic Four” movie because he thinks he “needs a break from superhero movies.” According to Deadline, there are no “contradictions” in Watts’ departure.

Sony and the “Spider-Man” producers have made it clear that they want Jon Watts, Holland and Zendaya to continue working on “Spider-Man.” Jon Watts has yet to officially quit the series, but if it does, it does sound like a possibility.

Watts said: “Directing 3 Spider-Man movies has been an amazing and life-changing experience for me. I’m grateful for being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the past 7 years and I hope we both can Working together again, I can’t wait to see The New Fantastic Four.”

Marvel President Kevin Feige said: “Working with Jon on the Spider-Man movie has been a truly enjoyable experience. We were looking forward to continuing to work with him to bring the Fantastic Four to the MCU, but we understand that, Support his exit. We remain confident that we can work together again at some point in the future.”

Watts will go on to direct and write the Apple Studios film, starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt, who will play hostile “fixers” who “find themselves hired for the same job.”

The “New Fantastic Four” movie was officially announced in 2020, but there has been little news since then. Marvel is still looking for a writer for it in February 2021.
