Spy balloon from Belarus? Flying object sighted

A flying object was sighted in Polish airspace coming from the direction of Belarus. Now a search team is to track down the object.

A flying object from the direction of Belarus entered Polish airspace. This was announced by the Ministry of Defense in Warsaw on Twitter on Saturday. The object reported by the flight control center is probably an observation balloon.

The object disappeared from the radar near the city of Rypin, located deep in the interior of Poland. A search team from the territorial defense had already been convened to track down the object, the ministry then told the PAP news agency.

Poland’s Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak was recently criticized for finding suspected rocket debris in central Poland. According to media information, witnesses discovered them on April 24 in a forest near Zamosc, a small town near the central Polish city of Bydgoszcz.

The Defense Ministry later had to admit that an object, “possibly a missile,” entered Polish airspace as early as December 16. However, airspace control did not immediately pass this information on to his ministry.
