The Netflix series ‘Squid Game’, which caused a worldwide craze, was honored with the award at the ‘Gosum Awards’, an American independent film awards ceremony.

‘Squid Game’ was called as the winner in the ‘Breakthrough Series Long Formatover 40 minutes’ category at the ’31st Gotham Awards’ ceremony held on Wall Street, New York, USA on the 29th (local time). The ‘Gosum Awards’ is an awards ceremony for independent films.

Director Hwang Dong-hyuk said, “When I first wrote this script in 2009, no one liked it. People said it was unrealistic and strange, and it took 12 years to make this show and show it to people.” “It took less than 12 days for this show to become the number one show on the planet,” he said. “It’s a miracle.”

Kim Ji-yeon, CEO of Cyron Pictures, who went on stage together, said, “The most miraculous thing that has happened since (‘Squid Game’) was released on September 17 was the great support the world showed for a small show in Korean.” I want to send my greatest thanks to my fans around the world.” CEO Kim also praised Hwang as a ‘genius’.

As ‘Squid Game’ is a series that has gained worldwide popularity, it is expected that the work and the cast will be nominated one after another for the American Broadcasting Awards, including the Emmy Award, the most prestigious awards ceremony for American broadcasters.
