Netflix’s ‘Squid Game’ was honored with an award at the ‘Gosum Awards’, an American independent film awards ceremony.
At the 31st Gotham Awards held on the 29th (local time) on Wall Street, New York, USA, ‘Squid Game’ won the award in the ‘Innovative Series of Over 40 Minutes’.
Director Hwang Dong-hyuk, who directed ‘Squid Game’, said, “When I first wrote this script in 2009, no one liked it. People said it was unrealistic and strange, and it took 12 years to make this show and show it to people. . “It took less than 12 days for this show to become the number one show on the planet,” he added. “It’s a miracle.”
‘Squid Game’ competed with ‘The Good Road Bird’, ‘It’s a God’, ‘Small X’, ‘The Underground Railroad’ and ‘The White Lotus’ to win the trophy.
Actor Lee Jung-jae, who was nominated for Best Actor in a New Series, unfortunately failed to win the award. In this category, Tussauds Mdebu for ‘The Underground Railroad’ and Ethan Hawke for ‘The Good Road Bird’ won the awards.
