Sreejesh, Neeraj, Mithali, Chhetri; Khel Ratna Award announced
New Delhi: Malayalee hockey player P.R. Khel Ratna award for 12 persons including Sreejesh. Sreejesh’s performance in India’s bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics earned Khel Ratna the country’s highest sporting honor.
Neeraj Chopra, who won gold at the Tokyo Olympics, cricketer Mithali Raj and footballer Sunil Chhetri have also been selected for the Khel Ratna.
Chhetri is the first footballer to receive the Khel Ratna award. The award will be presented on November 13.
Earlier, the award was known as the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award. Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi changed this.
