Palakkad: A Popular Front activist has been arrested in connection with the murder of an RSS worker in Palakkad. A former Pattambi resident is in custody for hacking to death a former RSS corporal punishment chief, Moothanthara Arappath A. Srinivasan, in a shop. The main accused and one of the drivers are still absconding. With this, the number of those arrested in the case has increased to 16.

The RSS leader was killed 24 hours before the killing of SDPI leader Zubair in Elappully. Heavy police security and a curfew were imposed in Palakkad district following the political killings. The ban was lifted as tensions eased.
