‘Manner Road’, a medieval strategy game that adds strategy simulation to innovative simulation, is attracting attention as the most popular work at Steam Nextfest. From the 6th, it ranked first in ‘Number of daily active trial players’, ‘Most favorite game to release’, and ‘Popular upcoming product’, which proves its playability.

Manor Road, developed by Slavic Magic, a one-man indie game developer, focuses on the player becoming a medieval lord and managing his own estate. Inspired by the art and architecture of Franconia in the late 14th century, it was developed and retains the historical and visual appeal of the period.

The basics of the game are securing a residence, farmland and hunting ground, and processing resources to increase the number of people and expand the territory. This is directly related to income and taxes, and well-processed resources can be used for war supplies or trading through traveling merchants. However, indiscriminate expansion can lead to weakening of soil fertility and deforestation, which requires resource management and multifaceted strategies.

In addition to the control element with a high degree of freedom, strategic simulation content was added using the residents under control. Players can recruit and train militias from the territory’s inhabitants, and use them to suppress rebellion, defeat bandits, and conquer territories. In addition, it is also possible to hire mercenaries with the resources secured to reinforce the fighting force of the village militia.

In real-time battles, individual fatigue, equipment, and environmental conditions are all applied as variables, requiring thorough pre-battle preparation. This is because the dead soldiers are the labor needed to secure resources, so the greater the damage in battle, the more fatal the problem for controlling the territory. Players also need to follow various diplomatic strategies to ensure victory with minimal losses or to avoid war with effective diplomacy.

Manor Road can enjoy a demo during Steam Nextfest, and it supports Korean language.
